General rules for glass weight calculations

As a general guide the weight of glass is calculated at 2.5kg per mm per meter sq. For example, a double glazed section, 2m x 4m made up of 12mm glass would be calculated as:

24mm of glass – 2m x 4m = 8m sq
8m sq x 24mm x 2.5mm = 480kg
